Gechak Chanchup nunnery in Nepal

The Gechak nuns traditionally practise in retreat the Six Yogas of Naropa and follow the Drugpa-Kagyu as well as the Nyingma-tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

The motherhouse of the Gechak nuns is situated in East Tibet. By erecting a nunnery in Nepal, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, the abbot of Gechak Gompa, would like to make it possible for the nuns to practise in the same way as they did in Tibet before 1959. Tsoknyi Rinpoche instructs the nuns so that they can also pass on these Teachings of wisdom in the west.

The project

The 36 nuns are presently living under very poor conditions, sharing six small rooms of a rented house.

For the erection of the monastery detailed plans and estimates have been made. For the ground floor
66,800 Euro will be needed and 69,000 Euro for the first and second floors together.

We are urgently looking for sponsors who will help with their donation to erect the building and to contribute to the daily support of the nuns. 1 Euro is needed for the daily food and clothing of one person

With your donation you help ensure that the nunnery and its religious tradition will continue to exist.
