What is Chindak?

Chindak has been working since 1994 as a charitable trust for the support of Tibetan culture under the patronage of Sogyal Rinpoche and Dzogchen Rinpoche.

Chindak helps and supports in two ways:

culturally - by erecting and renovating monasteries and nunneries.

charitably – by supporting people in need, by building old people’s
homes and schools and by creating traineeships in Tibetan communes
and settlements in Tibet and in exile.

Tibetan culture is seriously in danger of extinction. Tibetans
and the Tibetan government in exile are trying hard to maintain this
unique form of living in spite of steadily progressing social changes and turmoil in Chinese occupied Tibet. .

	Being a Tibetan in exile means falling out of the social framework and the family network which would have been normal in Tibet. Poverty, health problems, bad maintenance, undernourishment and lack of motivation are the main problems that Tibetan refugee communes in India are facing. Children of refugees often have to work for the support of their families before they have finished school and without any opportunity for further job training.

HOME	How does Chindak help? Sponsoring new projects Chindak’s main issue is to sponsor new projects and give them the support needed, so that the greatest problems can be relieved. Eligible projects are first of all thoroughly tested. By constantly communicating with a trustworthy person on the job we are informed about the progress of the project, so that adequate use of the donations is assured. Maintenance of projects In January 2003 the Tenpe Chindak Foundation was founded, to be able to sponsor and support the projects initiated by Chindak e.V. efficiently and on a longterm basis. Our goal is to build up foundation property, thus to ensure that support costs can be reliably taken on and longterm projects will be efficiently sponsored over the longterm, so that we can alleviate the existential fears of the people concerned. We can only give this help if many of our donators support our work on a regular basis.
	How can you help? Chindak e.V. projects are financed exclusively by donations. With your donations you can support a project of your own choice or leave it to Chindak to adequately use your gift. Every little sum is highly appreciated - a single donation as much as a regular monthly contribution. If you would like to support Chindak on a long term basis we are happy to welcome you as a new supporting member.
